Veteran corporate counsel brings 40-plus years of complex litigation, corporate governance, and supply chain cybersecurity experience to both practices

Pierce as Special Counsel to ZEK's Litigation and Cyber Security Practices and as an Expert Consultant at Law & Forensics. The announcement marks Pierce's formal entry into the advisory and expert witness arena following his retirement from Toyota Tsusho America, Inc. in December 2022, where he had served for 29 years — ultimately holding the titles of Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, Chief Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary. Pierce brings more than four decades of experience advising Japanese corporations and Japanese-owned U.S. subsidiaries on complex litigation, international trade, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and cybersecurity. At Toyota Tsusho America he established the company's legal department upon joining in 1993, served on the board of directors for 22 consecutive years, and — working in collaboration with Law & Forensics — built the company's cybersecurity program from its foundation, including appointing its first Chief Information Security Officer, drafting its first Cyber Security Incident Response Plan, and leading numerous tabletop training exercises. Prior to his nearly three decades at Toyota Tsusho America, Pierce was an associate at Mudge Rose Guthrie Alexander and Ferdon, where he spent 12 years representing Japanese corporations and Japanese-owned subsidiaries in complex litigation, environmental insurance coverage, white collar defense, labor and employment, and internal investigations. He is admitted to the New York Bar (1982) and to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. (Source)
