The third edition, co-authored by Geoffrey S. Corn, Jimmy Gurulé, Jeffrey D. Kahn, Gary Corn, and Amy C. Gaudion, comprehensively examines the constitutional foundations for national security policy and the exercise of national security powers — including presidential authority, intelligence law, military operations, and the emerging digital and cyber dimensions of national security. Gary Corn contributed chapters addressing "National Security in the Digital Age" and, with co-author Amy C. Gaudion, "The Role of Law, Lawyers, and Institutions in the National Security Decision-Making Process." (Source)
Published by Aspen Publishing, an imprint of Wolters Kluwer, the casebook is designed for advanced constitutional law, national security law, and policy courses and features case analyses with targeted discussion questions. The third edition updates coverage to reflect recent legal developments across the full spectrum of national security law, with particular attention to the rapid evolution of cybersecurity and digital-age threats. Gary Corn brings to the volume more than two decades of experience at the highest levels of national security law practice, including five years as General Counsel to U.S. Cyber Command and his current role as Director of the Technology, Law & Security Program and Adjunct Professor of Cyber and National Security Law at American University Washington College of Law. He is also an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and a Senior Fellow at the Lieber Institute for Law & Land Warfare at West Point.
" This third edition reflects how dramatically the national security legal landscape has shifted — from the emergence of cyber operations as a major domain of conflict to the growing role of artificial intelligence and digital technology in military and intelligence activities," said Gary Corn. "The goal is to give students and practitioners the analytical tools to navigate those challenges against the constitutional framework that governs our system."
" Gary's contributions to this volume underscore exactly why he is one of the most sought-after voices in cyber and national security law," said Daniel Garrie, Co-Founder of Law & Forensics. "For our clients, his depth of published scholarship combined with his hands-on government experience creates an unparalleled resource in complex cyber and national security matters."
National Security Law and the Constitution, Third Edition is available through Aspen Publishing and major academic booksellers. (Source)
