Law & Forensics Expert Gary Corn Named Adjunct Senior Fellow at Center for a New American Security

Retired U.S. Army colonel and American University professor joins premier national security think tank to advise on technology and national security policy

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 5, 2024 — Law & Forensics LLC congratulates expert consultant Gary Corn on his appointment as Adjunct Senior Fellow at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), one of the nation's most influential national security research and policy institutions. In this role, Corn advises CNAS's Technology and National Security program on cyber law, military technology, and the legal frameworks governing state and non-state cyber operations. (Source)

CNAS, headquartered in Washington, D.C., produces policy research and analysis that informs senior government decision-makers, military leaders, and allied governments on national security strategy. The Technology and National Security program examines how emerging and disruptive technologies — including artificial intelligence, cyber capabilities, and autonomous systems — reshape the strategic and legal environment for U.S. national security.

"Gary's extensive background in cyber and his leadership at U.S. Cyber Command, coupled with Andrew's strategic insights from his work in diplomacy and tech, will greatly strengthen CNAS's work and mission," said Paul Scharre, CNAS Executive Vice President, in the organization's announcement. A retired U.S. Army colonel with 26 years on active duty as a military attorney, Corn served his final five years as General Counsel to U.S. Cyber Command, advising the four-star commander and staff on the full range of national security and international law issues arising from military cyber operations. He is a co-author of National Security Law and the Constitution (Wolters Kluwer) and has published widely in leading law reviews and policy journals.

" Gary's appointment as an Adjunct Senior Fellow at CNAS reflects the exceptional depth of expertise he brings to the intersection of cyber operations, international law, and national security policy," said Daniel Garrie, Co-Founder of Law & Forensics. "At Law & Forensics, that expertise translates directly into world-class consulting and expert witness services for clients navigating the most complex cyber and national security legal challenges."

Corn advises Law & Forensics clients on cyber warfare consulting and policy, cyber insurance litigation, international law and the law of armed conflict, and expert witness engagements in matters involving cybersecurity and national security law.
