Daniel Garrie is the founder and managing partner at Law & Forensics. Daniel is paving the way when it comes to 2017’s most pressing cyber security, forensic, and legal issues. Daniel, one of the most sought-after computer forensic experts and special masters, cyber mediators, and forensic neutrals with JAMS.
Judges and attorneys laud his reports for their clarity, focus, and ability to help parties settle even the most complex disputes. Mr. Garrie has garnered a national reputation for his experience at the intersection of technology and the law and is as comfortable talking with entrepreneurs, IT professionals, and developers as he is with lawyers and judges.
In addition to his Law Degree, he holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s in computer science and appears as comfortable talking with entrepreneurs as he is with developers, lawyers, and judges.After successfully building and selling several technology start-up companies.
Daniel has garnered a national reputation at the intersection of computer forensics and the law. Daniel is an active adviser and board member for a number of different companies, including KoolSpan, Waratek, and Eccentex.
Daniel spends his time in Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York and is fluent in Spanish.
Chief Forensic Officer
Bill Spernow is the Chief Forensic Officer of Law & Forensics. He was the former Director of Information Security, Investigations and Incident Response for Experian, the world’s largest consumer reporting agency.Prior to Experian, Mr. Spernow was an e-Discovery and forensic litigation expert affiliated with LECG’s Digital Evidence Solutions Group.
Mr. Spernow is also the former Chief Information Security Officer for the Georgia Student Finance Commission and has advised many fortune 500 companies.
Mr. Spernow has an extensive Information Security background at both the strategic and tactical level. His hands-on tactical design and implementation expertise includes firewalls, intrusion detection systems, secure network and Web sites, content monitoring, HIPAA and GLBA privacy and regulation compliance, authentication and authorization methodologies, biometrics, cyber investigations, forensic analysis, incident response strategies, and laptop protection.
Bill is based in Atlanta, Georgia.
Chief Operating Officer
Sarah Haines is the Chief Operating Officer. Sarah is responsible for the organizational and strategic leadership of Law & Forensics worldwide mediation and arbitration, cyber security, and legal technology consulting services. Sarah holds a Masters from Columbia University, a B.S. from NYU, and BBA from University of Wisconsin.
She is a proven dynamic leader and innovative thought leader with a focus on healthcare. In 2012, Ms. Haines also spearheaded the involvement of Law & Forensics in a number of pilot e-discovery mediation programs across the nation.
Sarah currently leads the Law & Forensics expansion over the next year into a number of new European markets.Sarah serves on the Leadership Team that sets the overall strategy and direction for Law & Forensics.
Sarah is based in New York, New York.
Yoav Griver is our General Counsel. He is also a partner in the firm’s litigation group where he focuses on representing clients in complex commercial matters.Prior to joining ZEK, Yoav was Litigation Counsel to Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he litigated a variety of commercial and intellectual property matters for clients in the banking, credit, transportation, insurance, computer software and electronic industries.
Before that, Yoav prosecuted banking conspiracy, stock fraud and other cases on behalf of the Israeli Ministry of Justice where he was a member of the Ministry’s Economics Unit. Yoav’s many proud moments as a trial attorney include successfully defending Hitachi America in the longest customs fraud trial in the history of the Court of International Trade; successfully defending MasterCard in a multi-district putative class action against claims that MasterCard was responsible under RICO for internet gambling; recovering a verdict on behalf of a class of minority schoolchildren in a prominent civil rights case; successfully defending GMAC in a class action alleging violations of RICO, the Sherman Act, state and federal credit repair organization statutes, and state UDAP statutes; and successfully defending Tellium Inc. in a protracted case involving allegations of breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraud upon the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Yoav is co-editor and author of the multi-year treatise, Dispute Resolution and e-Discovery, published by Thomson Reuters. He also writes on a wide variety of legal topics for such publications as The Business Lawyer, The Consumer Financial Services Law Report, Law 360, Bloomberg, and the Journal of Proprietary Rights.He received his J.D. with honors, Order of the Coif, from the University of Texas School of Law in 1991, where he was a member of the Texas International Law Journal, and his B.B.A. with honors from the University of Texas in 1988.
Outside the office, Yoav volunteers his time to the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law and the Office of the Appellate Defender. Yoav also is an Adjunct Professor at NYU. Together with Anthony I. Giacobbe, Jr., of our New York office, he teaches a course at NYU on Sports Law.
Yoav resides in Manhattan with his wife.
Chief Marketing Officer
Marc is the Chief Marketing Officer at Law & Forensics. Prior to joining Law & Forensics he worked with leading enterprise technology companies. Prior companies Marc has worked with include: Microsoft, Tata Consulting, Cisco and Intel doing marketing communications.
He has also helped launch four versions of Windows Client, Windows Server, Office, SharePoint, Windows Phone 8 and other Microsoft enterprise products. Marc has co-founded five software startups – media and e-commerce, comprehensive malware discovery, video-on-demand and digital rights management, search+social, and enterprise middleware – and have consulted on business plan development, and marketing.
He also has a proven track record in go-to-market planning and execution with many early stage software, cloud, clean-green tech, transformational media and consumer companies.With both the organizational and operations capabilities of “left” brain thinkers and the innovation of “right” brain creatives I excel in both executive management and creative leadership roles.
